Day 1 — Ubud: Rice Terraces & Water Temple

  1. Green rice terraces at Tegallalang, Ubud

Photo by Niklas Weiss on Unsplash

    7:30am (1.5 hrs) Must visit

    Tegallalang Rice Terraces

Arrive by 8am — the terraces are genuinely peaceful before the tour buses arrive around 9:30am. Walk the swing-and-viewpoint loop at your own pace; a small donation to the farmers who maintain the paths is customary.

  2. Pilgrims at the purification pools of Tirta Empul Water Temple

Photo by Ismail Hamzah on Unsplash

    9:15am (1 hr) Must visit

    Tirta Empul Water Temple

Rent a sarong at the entrance (included in ticket or a small extra fee). You can join the purification pools if you wish, or simply observe — either way, dress modestly and move quietly; this is an active place of worship, not a photo backdrop.

  3. 11:00am (1 hr)

    Lunch in central Ubud

Locavore or Sayuri Healing Food for a relaxed, farm-to-table lunch — both are a short walk from Ubud's main market area and suit a slow honeymoon pace.

  4. A macaque at Ubud Monkey Forest

Photo by Cassie Gallegos on Unsplash

    1:00pm (1 hr) Must visit

    Ubud Monkey Forest

A shaded, atmospheric walk among ancient stone temples and free-roaming macaques. Keep sunglasses and loose items zipped away — the monkeys are quick and unbothered by tourists.

  5. The grassy ridge path of the Campuhan Ridge Walk, Ubud

Photo by Declan Young on Unsplash

    4:00pm (1 hr) Can visit

    Campuhan Ridge Walk

A free, flat ridge walk through open grassland — a good slow-paced late afternoon after a full morning. Best light is close to sunset, around 5:30–6pm this time of year.

  6. 7:30pm

    Dinner with rice-terrace view

Sari Organik or Kubu at Mandapa for a romantic dinner overlooking rice fields or the river gorge — book ahead, especially for a terrace table at sunset.

Day 2 — Ubud: Art & Slow Culture

  1. A Balinese cooking class preparing dishes together

Photo by Nita Payne on Unsplash

    9:00am (2 hrs)

    Ubud cooking class

A half-day class (many start with a market visit) covering Balinese staples like sate lilit and lawar. Paon Bali and Casa Luna are both well-reviewed and geared toward couples wanting a shared activity rather than a rushed tour.

  2. 1:00pm (1 hr)

    Lunch (part of cooking class)

Most cooking classes end with the group eating what they cooked — check this is included when booking.

  3. The gate of Puri Saren Palace, Ubud

Photo by weyfoto loh on Unsplash

    2:30pm (1.5 hrs)

Ubud Art Market & Puri Saren Palace

Browse handwoven textiles, wood carvings, and jewelry — negotiate on everything. The adjacent Puri Saren Palace (Ubud Royal Palace) is free to walk through and often hosts traditional dance performances in the evening.

  4. A Balinese Legong dancer performing with an ensemble

Photo by Didi Paul on Unsplash

    7:00pm (1 hr)

Legong dance performance, Puri Saren Palace

A traditional Balinese dance performance held most evenings in the palace courtyard — a genuinely good, unhurried cultural evening for a couple. Buy tickets at the door from around 6:30pm.

  5. 8:30pm

    Dinner in central Ubud

Multiple mid-range options within a short walk of the palace — pick anywhere with a courtyard or rooftop seat for a relaxed close to the evening.

Day 3 — Travel Day: Ubud to Seminyak, via Tanah Lot

  1. 10:00am

    Check out and depart Ubud

The drive from Ubud to Seminyak is 1.5–2 hours depending on traffic — treat this as a travel day rather than trying to pack in a full Ubud morning first.

  2. Tanah Lot temple silhouetted on its offshore rock

Photo by Nick Fewings on Unsplash

    4:30pm (1.5 hrs) Can visit

    Tanah Lot at sunset

Time the stop for sunset (around 6pm) — the temple silhouette against the ocean is the whole appeal, and it is genuinely worth seeing despite the crowds. You cannot enter the temple itself as a non-Hindu; the viewpoint area is the destination.

  3. 7:00pm

    Check in, Seminyak

Settle into your Seminyak hotel — the shift from Ubud's jungle pace to Seminyak's beach-and-nightlife energy is deliberate; this itinerary uses it as the trip's second half.

  4. 8:00pm

    Dinner in Seminyak

Mama San or Motel Mexicola for a livelier first Seminyak dinner — both are well-reviewed and a short taxi from most Seminyak hotels.

Day 4 — Seminyak Beach & Sunset

  1. Seminyak Beach at sunset

Photo by Hyukjoon Sohn on Unsplash

    9:00am–1:00pm

    Seminyak Beach morning

Seminyak's beach clubs (Potato Head, Ku De Ta) open beach loungers to hotel/day-pass guests from the morning — a relaxed honeymoon beach day with none of Kuta's crowding.

  2. 1:00pm (1 hr)

Lunch on the beach club terrace

Most beach clubs have solid, if pricier, food menus — a relaxed lunch without leaving the beach setting.

  3. 2:00pm–4:30pm

    Afternoon rest

Bali afternoons (2–4:30pm) are hot and the beach light is harsh — a good window for a spa treatment or hotel pool time instead.

  4. A cliffside pool overlooking the ocean at sunset

Photo by Merve Kalafat Yılmaz on Unsplash

    5:30pm (1.5 hrs)

    Potato Head sunset

Bali's most famous sunset beach club — go for the setting and the view even if you don't stay for dinner. Arrive by 5:30pm to get a good spot before the sunset crowd builds.

  5. 8:00pm

    Dinner in Seminyak

La Lucciola or La Plancha (beachfront, casual) for a relaxed final full-day dinner with the ocean close by.

Day 5 — Canggu Morning & Departure

  1. A café hut beside rice fields in Canggu

Photo by Darcey Beau on Unsplash

    9:00am (2 hrs)

    Canggu café & rice-field walk

A 20-minute taxi from Seminyak. Canggu's café scene (Crate Café, The Shady Shack) sits right up against rice paddies — a relaxed final morning that's a contrast to Seminyak's beach-club energy.

  2. 12:00pm onward

    Departure prep

Allow 45–60 minutes from Seminyak/Canggu to Ngurah Rai International Airport, more if departing during evening peak traffic.
