Day 1 — Old Dubai: Souks, Creek & Al Fahidi

  1. A trader amid the stalls of a Deira souk

Photo by Chermiti Mohamed on Unsplash

    8:30am (1.5 hrs) Must visit

Spice Souk & Gold Souk, Deira

Start early before heat builds. Walk both souks back-to-back along the Al Seef Road side of Deira — the spice souk is a 10-minute wander, the gold souk takes longer if you want to browse. Outdoor heat is manageable before 10am.

  2. An abra boat crossing Dubai Creek

    10:00am (10 min) Must visit

    Abra creek crossing

AED 1 per person for the wooden ferry from Deira to Bur Dubai. A short, authentic crossing that has connected both sides of the creek for over a century. Pay the boatman directly.

  3. A narrow lane in Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, Dubai

Photo by Anjana Nair on Unsplash

    10:20am (1.5 hrs) Must visit

    Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood

Dubai's oldest surviving quarter — restored wind-tower houses, narrow lanes, small galleries, and the Coffee Museum. Take your own pace through the alleyways; there is no fixed route. The Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding runs coffee mornings on select days if you want a guided cultural intro.

  4. 12:00pm (1 hr)

    Lunch near Al Fahidi

The Al Seef waterfront promenade has creek-view restaurants at various price points. The small Irani cafés tucked inside Bastakiya serve cheap, filling lunches if you want something more local.

  5. 1:30pm–4:30pm

    Midday rest (hotel or indoors)

The 1pm–4pm window is brutal outdoors, especially May–September. Rest at your hotel, check in if you have not, or browse an indoor mall. Do not push through outdoor sightseeing in this window.

  6. 5:00pm (1.5 hrs)

Dubai Mall & Burj Khalifa plaza

Walk the Dubai Mall waterfront terrace and take in the Burj Khalifa view from the fountain plaza. The mall's ground-floor aquarium viewing window is free. The full Burj view from outside, at this light, is worth the walk.

  7. The Dubai Fountain performing on the Burj Khalifa Lake

Photo by Raimond Klavins on Unsplash

    6:00pm Can visit

    Dubai Fountain evening show

Free from the outdoor waterfront terrace. Shows run at 6pm and 8pm on weekdays, more frequently on weekends. Arrive 10 minutes early for a good spot along the railing.

  8. 7:30pm

Dinner at Souk Al Bahar or Dubai Mall

Souk Al Bahar (the bridge-side souk, 5 minutes from the fountain) has mid-range restaurants with direct Burj and fountain views — book ahead for weekend evenings. Dubai Mall's Level 2 food court is faster and cheaper.

Day 2 — Burj Khalifa + JBR Beach

  1. City view from the Burj Khalifa observation deck at night

Photo by Ahmed Aldaie on Unsplash

    9:00am (1.5 hrs) Must visit

    Burj Khalifa At the Top

Book your timed slot online in advance — especially weekends, when afternoon slots sell out weeks ahead. Morning gives the clearest views before haze builds. Indoor activity, so time of day does not affect heat.

  2. 10:30am (1 hr)

Dubai Mall & fountain plaza walk

Walk the waterfront terrace with a coffee or explore the mall. The walk-through aquarium tunnel (paid) is worth it for marine-life fans; the ground-floor viewing window is free.

  3. 12:00pm (1 hr)

    Lunch at Dubai Mall

The food court on Level 2 has solid South Indian and Pakistani options alongside the usual choices. Mid-range restaurants on the waterfront level if you want a sit-down meal with a view.

  4. 2:00pm–4:30pm

    Midday rest

Use hotel or mall air conditioning. Don't attempt JBR Beach in peak afternoon heat, especially May–September.

  5. People on JBR Beach, Dubai

Photo by Marah Bashir on Unsplash

    5:00pm (2 hrs)

JBR Beach & The Walk at JBR

Dubai's best free public beach — wide, clean, lifeguards present, changing facilities available. The late afternoon heat is manageable and the sunset over the Gulf is worth staying for. Walk the JBR promenade after your beach time. Note: outdoor heat in summer (May–Sep) is still significant even at 5pm — wear light clothing and stay hydrated.

  6. 7:30pm

Dinner at The Walk at JBR

A long stretch of restaurants from casual shawarma and biryani spots to mid-range sit-down places. Good choice at all budgets along one walkable strip.

Day 3 — Dubai Frame + Palm Jumeirah

  1. The Dubai Frame against a blue sky

    9:00am (1 hr) Can visit

    Dubai Frame

A giant picture frame straddling old and new Dubai, with a glass-floored bridge at the top. The views across both sides of the city give a genuine orientation of how Dubai fits together. Go in the morning while it is clear. Not essential, but a good use of a spare morning.

  2. View across Palm Jumeirah, Dubai

Photo by Kevin JD on Unsplash

    10:30am (1 hr) Can visit

    Palm Jumeirah boardwalk

Walk the crescent boardwalk for Gulf views and the Atlantis hotel backdrop. A pleasant 45-minute loop. Do not pay for entry to anything on the Palm — the free boardwalk is enough unless you are doing a specific beach club.

  3. 12:00pm

    Lunch on the Palm

The Pointe outdoor mall, at the tip of the Palm crescent, has a cluster of restaurants with direct Atlantis views across the water — a relaxed, reasonably priced lunch spot.

  4. 2:00pm onwards

    Departure prep or last-minute shopping

Depending on your flight time: rest at the hotel or head to Dubai Mall for last shopping. Allow 45 minutes from Downtown or the Marina side to Dubai International Airport, more during peak traffic hours.
